WE COLLECT AND PROCESS
WASTE LABORATORY PRODUCTS

COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF WASTE
LABORATORY PRODUCTS

NATURE AND ORIGIN

Some waste of laboratory products are classified hazardous waste and are subject to specific regulations. We call LC Laboratory Chemicals in small packages.

Packaging and rags soiled with toxic products must, from a regulatory point of view, be considered in the same way as the product with which they have been in contact: acid, soda tablets, acetone, etc.

All these wastes belong to the TWQD family (Toxic Waste produced in small quantities by dispersed producers) and constitute a significant risk to health and the environment. Indeed, they are often poorly identified, poorly stored and require a special treatment method.

REGULATION

Laboratory chemicals (LC)

They are subject to environmental regulations. They must be packaged, labelled and transported with full traceability according to the rules of ADR (European Agreement on the transport of Dangerous goods by Road). They are then disposed of in approved facilities.

UNUSED DRUGS

Incineration is compulsory for this type of waste.

SOILED PACKAGING AND RAGS

Packaging that contained toxic or polluting products may be recovered for energy in approved centres.

RECOMMENDATION

Healthcare institutions, research institutes, school laboratories and independent laboratories must:

  • Ensure the identification of waste;
  • Separate incompatible products;
  • Store the products separately in sealed over-packaging.
  • Treat this waste in accordance with the regulations in force, using approved companies.

Collection and processing

The TWQDs supported by the WSG waste collection service follow the same treatment channels as the hazardous waste produced in larger quantities:

  • Hazardous waste incineration units;
  •  Physical & chemical treatment;
  • Hazardous waste storage centre.

Depending on their properties, some waste may be recovered (regeneration of solvents, etc.).

Advantages of WSG waste collection service:

We support you in the care and treatment of your used and toxic laboratory products: audit of your needs, installation of suitable containers, sorting service by our chemist, organisation of ADR collections, grouping, treatment and recovery.
